| 9-10 Division Rules
- Any girl is eligible to play in Division III 9-10 league if she turns nine before August 1 and doesn’t turn eleven before June 1
- Official softball Rule Book(fast pitch)is to be used
- SPORTSMANSHIP IS TO BE STRESSED AT EACH GAME, PRACTICE, etc.
- League rules and exceptions are as follows:
- Ten players (four in outfield) may be used. Games maybe played with 7 Players.
- A game is forfeited if the coach and 7 players are not available at the official start of game
- Six innings maximum.
- In case of rain, four complete innings shall constitute a game; 3 and ½ innings if the home team is leading
- Time limit of 1 ½ hour per game
- Batting order will consist of all girls present for the game and will be followed in sequence for the entire game. HELMETS WILL BE WORN AT ALL TIMES UNTIL BEHIND THE GATE TO THE DUGGOUT
- If a player arrives late, they may be added to the end of the batting order(no other changes permitted or batting order)
- If a helmet is removed in the field of play the player and team will receive one warning
- The second offense of removing the helmet will result in a team out (THIS IS FOR SAFETY PURPOSES)
- Stealing and bunting are permitted
- Of the batter is called out or strikes out swinging she is out regardless if the catcher drops the ball or not
- The home team is responsible for keeping the scoreboard and making sure all equipment is put away after the game
- Home team is responsible for reporting scores to the newspaper
- Every player present shall pay defense at least two innings
- No infield pop fly rule
- Free substitution will be used. You may remove and re-enter every player during the game
- The pitcher may re-enter as pitcher.
- The ball is dead and runners cannot advance when the pitcher has the ball "near" the pitching remember. It is the umpire’s judgment as to what "near is"
- A pitch bouncing before it crosses the plate is considered a live ball. A batter hit by a “bouncing” pitch will be awarded first base.
- Batters must make an effort to avoid being hit by a pitch
- NO FOUL language will be tolerated at any time.
- The calling of strikes and balls should be done with leniency and consistency. Coaches and parents should not hassle umpires. This is a learning league for umpires as well as players. Coaches are responsible for their own behavior and sportsmanship of their team, assistance coaches, and fans. If a coach or anyone else has an issue with the call from the umpire, it may only be discussed between innings. The call WILL STAND AS IS. The discussion will take place out of earshot of the players and fans with both coaches participating in the conversation.
- A game may be postponed due to weather by the division coordinator or by mutual agreement of the coaches in the absence of the division coordinator. In either case the director of umpires must e notified immediately
- Games may be postponed or re-scheduled one week in advance of the scheduled date of the game by mutual agreement of the coaches with approval of the division coordinator.
- DUE TO HEALTH REASONS ALL BATTERS MUST WEAR A CAP UNDRE THE BATTING HELMENTS. ALL HELMETS WILL HAVE FACE MASKS OR MAY NOT BE USED. NOT WEARING A CAP WILL RESULT IN NOT BEING ABLE TO BAT
